ARTWORK has gone on display in Overton after being crafted by dozens of people who have overcome debilitating mental health conditions.

For the next month, a special display from artWell will be open for all to view in the window of a vacant unit in Overton High Street.

Focusing on mental wellbeing, artWell operates workshops across North Hampshire and Basingstoke which seek to empower people through creativity.

With referrals through psychiatrists, social prescribers, community referrals and direct, its Artistic Director Corinne Marsh uses her practical experience as a psychotherapist and sculptor to help people in the community through art.

Corinne, who left the NHS to focus on developing artWell, also has a background in Community Mental Health Team settings.

Corinne Marsh said: "I am passionate about giving a voice to those who are often unheard. I live in Overton which is why I spotted this empty retail unit and contacted Southern Co-op who is kindly letting us use the window for free.

"The display is a real celebration and we hope it will encourage others to be inspired. We also hope it will make a few more people aware of artWell and the unique opportunities it provides for people to discover their interests and unique creativity."

The artwork will be on display from 25 January until the end of February at 1-3 High Street, Overton, RG25 3HB courtesy of Southern Co-op, the regional, independent co-operative.
