Dear Editor,

A copy of my letter to Kit Malthouse on the Sue Gray Report:

Dear Mr Malthouse,

I watched the Prime Minister’s statement in Parliament today on the interim Sue Gray report on the parties in Downing Street offices, gardens and the Prime Minister’s residence, and the subsequent debate. I also note that the Metropolitan Police have been handed 500 pages of evidence and 300 photographs of what are, prima facie, multiple breaches of the Covid regulations in force at the time these parties were held.

While the Metropolitan Police investigations are still in their early stages, it is clear that the Prime Minister has deliberately, repeatedly and unashamedly misled the House and the country on the existence of these parties and his attendance at them. He has also refused to abide by the Parliamentary convention that ministers who mislead the House should either correct the record or offer their resignation. The Prime Minister has refused to do either.

I therefore demand that, as my constituency MP, you submit a letter of no confidence in the Prime Minister to the 1922 Committee and publicly demand the Prime Minister’s immediate resignation.

Andrew Whitely,

Turin Court,
