AN ANDOVER nightclub will be opening its doors on Thursday (March 3) as a collection point for donations to be sent to Ukraine.

Cameo nightclub, on London Street, will be hosting a clothing collection session on behalf of the Red Cross between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday.

A team of volunteers will be on hand to accept donations.

Residents are asked to bring items in good and clean condition and securely packed in bags. Only clothing donations can be accepted on this day.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Tom Dodd, who is part of Cameo's marketing team, said: "The plight of Ukraine has touched many people, and we wanted to do something to support.

"We now have 17 venues on board, and we want to encourage as many other venues outside of our chain to support it too.

"A lot of people will be sitting at home wanting to do something to help and this is something quite simple, as pretty much everyone will have something they no longer wear."

The club will also be donating any lost property which has been left with them, unclaimed, for more than six weeks. This includes coats, jumpers and jackets, and it asks that people collect any items belonging to them that they wish to keep before March 3.

The donations will be utilised by the Ukrainian Red Cross society and International Committee of the Red Cross who continue to respond to existing and emerging humanitarian needs in the country, supported by the British Red Cross.
