A man has been left with serious head injuries after being targeted by a gang of three in a glass bottle attack.

The man, in his 60s, was assaulted by the group of three men as he walked down The Hundred, near to The Phoenix Pub in Romsey, between 9.45pm and 10pm last night (Saturday, March 12).

During the attack he was reportedly struck over the head with a glass bottle.

He has been taken to hospital where he is continuing to receive treatment for his injuries.

Police say enquiries remain ongoing in the area but they are now appealing any witnesses or members of the public with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We’re appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which took place in Romsey last night (Saturday 12 March).
