A CAMPAIGN which saw a local postmaster as the face of its charity fundraiser has raised more than £250,000 in the fight against poverty and hunger.

Leslie Francis, who runs Enham Village Post Office and Store with her husband Tim,was announced earlier this year as the face of the Post Office’s ‘Help Fight Hunger’ campaign, which sees them partner with the Trussell Trust to give 1p from every over-the-counter cash withdrawal to help fight hunger and poverty in the UK.

Now, the two organisations have announced that the campaign has reached its target of the £250,00 target, with more than a week left to go.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Leslie said: “I could not be any prouder or pleased for everyone involved. It is a massive amount and my thanks go to every single person who withdrew cash at the Post Office.”
