FAMILIES came out in their droves over the Easter weekend to enjoy plenty of activities that were on offer in the town centre.

InAndover, from Andover BID, ran an Easter Trail with Test Valley Borough Council alongside the Riverside Park Mobile Farm, outdoor games and craft sessions that took part inside the Chantry Centre.

Twenty Andover businesses participated in the Easter Trail, and over 300 families took part.

As part of the Easter Trail, young and old were tasked with finding hidden characters around the town centre.

Andover BID said: “Great feedback was received by the families that took part and there were plenty of smiles from the children enjoying the fun in the sun.

“Andover town was buzzing with local families and shoppers with this event driving footfall into our much-loved market town.”

Other town centre businesses also mentioned how trading was up for them due to increased footfall.

The Magic Bakery on Union Street said: “We had our best day trading since opening” and the team from Canto Gelato reported “a very good and very busy day”.

Reports show that footfall into the town was up by 50 per cent compared to last week’s statistics, also an increase of 45 per cent compared to this time last year.
