THERE are a huge array of Platinum Jubilee events taking place in Andover and surrounding area to mark Her Majesty’s 70 years as monarch.

With something for everyone, here is just a taste of what’s on offer:

  • ER motif (from May 25): The ER motif is now available to view at the Guildhall, Andover High Street.
  • Platinum Jubilee Big Craft Make (May 30): The clinical commissioning group are hosting a free jubilee decorations crafting session at King Arthurs Way Hall from 1,30-4.30pm.
  • Best Dressed Window winners (June 1): Businesses in Andover have been decorating their windows to celebrate the jubilee. Members of the public can vote for their favourite at: inandover.co.uk/jubilee-window-display-2022. Voting closes at midnight on May 31, with the winner announced on June 1.
  • Vintage tea dance (June 2): Residents are welcome at St Mary’s Church, Andover to enjoy refreshments and dancing to music through the decades from 2-4.30pm. Free sign up at bit.ly/vintagedance or call 07719994538.
  • Beacon Lighting and service (June 2): Lighting of the Beacon St Mary’s from 8.45pm. All are welcome to join for hymns and prayers, followed by the ‘Lighting of the Beacon’ at the Memorial Garden.
  • Music in the Park and Charlton Beacon Lighting (June 2): At Charlton Leisure Park, there will be live music with Test Valley Brass, Midge and Kilcannon from 7pm with a beacon lighting at about 9.45pm. Beer and food will be available to buy. Tickets are £2 from The Royal Oak at Charlton, the Charlton Convenience Store and St Thomas’ Church, and Charlton Lakeside Café (under 12's free), or £3 on night.
  • Street Festival (June 3): A medley of food, music, dance, performance and art will create a day for all to enjoy on Andover High Street.
  • Picnic in the Park (June 5): At Vigo Park Recreation Ground from 2-6pm, bring a picnic and enjoy live music from 2-6pm. At 4pm, a jubilee-themed costume competition will be judged.
