RESIDENTS attending the Andover Gardening Fair in Andover Town Centre last Sunday had a fabulous day.

The glorious weather certainly helped, and visitors were delighted to be able to buy such a wide range of plants and flowers.

There was a lovely busy, bustling atmosphere on the High Street as visitors were able to get the pick of the season's plants from Heucheras to Herbaceous borders, with many leaving the High Street with bags laden and happy faces.

One of the stallholders said: "It's been very nice; it is my first time doing an event in Andover, and people have been very friendly. I've sold plenty, and I'm very happy with sales today". Another said, "This was a superb event, brilliantly organised".

Shelley Coburn, one of the event organisers, was delighted with the day.

She said:"It was a wonderfully enjoyable day and great to see our plans come to fruition. I spoke to many visitors and received some lovely feedback, which is always nice to hear."

As well as the many stalls selling plants, flowers and garden accessories, there was plenty laid on for all the family. Storytelling, arts and craft stalls, outdoor games and face painting were among the free attractions on offer. And the whole event was brought to life by the fabulously talented local singers who covered a range of genres, jazz, show tunes and acoustic flavours.

Add to that a few street food and drinks stalls, and you have the perfect recipe for a lovely vibe for a Sunday afternoon event. One of the stalls and a couple of Andover businesses actually sold out of their food.

Thank you, Andover bid for a great event", whilst Imogen Edwards of Coffee 1 said, "That was one of the busiest Sundays we have ever had, lots of customers all day, thank you Andover BID for putting on such a great event."

A manager from Poundland said The shop was full of people all day and “takings were up 25 per cent on a normal Sunday”.
