Not everyone gets to ride in a supercar with a top speed of 198 mph.

But for Scott, who tried his luck in a raffle at the Boaz Project summer fete and open day, a ride in a Mercedes-AMG Gt R convertible was his prize.

The unforgettable experience was donated by Winchester Auto Barn. Niall Holden, director of the garage, which sells and services cars from the 1960s to 1980s, picked up Scott at the sheltered farm scheme for adults with learning disabilities in Sutton Scotney and took him for a spin.

Scott, who attends the Boaz Project two days a week, said: “It was amazing. We went quite fast – like Greased Lightening.”

Stuart Palmer, manager of the Boaz Project, said: “The car ride was a brilliant raffle prize to win, especially for Scott as he is a big car enthusiast. We are extremely grateful to Winchester Auto Barn for being such a good neighbour and supporting our work.”

In addition to the raffle prize, Mr Holden loaned a retro ice cream van and Lamborghini tractor, both dating from the 1950s, which proved popular attractions at the fete which raised a grand total of £4,000.

Mr Holden said: “It was great fun to have Scott in the car as co-pilot. He is such a petrol head. He knows more about my cars than I do. We are delighted to help and be a good neighbour to the Boaz Project now and in the future.”

The Boaz Project supports people with learning disabilities to develop new skills and be productive. The project has a large allotment garden, 120 free range egg-laying hens, donkeys, sheep and lambs. In addition to growing produce and looking after the animals, activities include cooking lessons, craft sessions and woodwork.

The project is on the lookout for more volunteer helpers. For more details, visit: boazproject.co.uk
