THREE Andover residents have put their names forward for election onto the town council.

As previously reported, a by-election was announced in an Andover Town Council ward last month. 

Following the sad death of former town mayor and long-term councillor Barbara Long in May, residents in Andover St Mary’s will elect a new representative in September.

A list of those who put their name forwards was published by Test Valley Borough Council on Friday, August 12.

They are: Mark Llewellyn Farren (independent); Steven Thomas Hardstaff (independent); and Edward Charles Reynolds (Liberal Democrat).

A poll will be taken on Thursday, September 8 between 7am and 10pm.

In order to vote in this election, you need to be registered on the Register of Electors and you must be:

  • Resident in the St Mary's Ward area of Andover Town Council on the date of the election
  • A British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of a member state of the European Union
  • 18-years-old or over

If you are an eligible elector and you are already on the Register of Electors in the St Mary's Ward, you do not need to re-register for this election.

The deadline for applying to register for voting in this election is Monday, August 22, and you can do so at: gov.uk/register-to-vote.
