STUDENTS at Rookwood School had beaming faces as they finally collected their GCSE results after a long summer anxiously waiting.

The students collected their results with many of them feeling particularly nervous after having to study much of their GCSE’s online due to Covid lockdowns.

Alexandra Booth nervously opened her results and despite doing extremely well she told the Advertiser she struggled during the lockdowns.

She said: “It has been a struggle getting through Covid while being at school but I am so proud of myself.

“The teachers have just been so amazing throughout Covid. It feels scary to leave school but I am excited to take on the next challenge.”

The feeling was shared by fellow star student Lily Parry.

She added: “I am so happy and pleased with my results. I know a lot of students did really struggle with the effects of Covid and the lockdowns.

“I didn’t feel like doing the lessons online effected me so much but I know it did a lot people. The teachers were just so amazing at keeping the structure together.”

Speaking about her results, Lily added: “I wasn’t too nerves because I felt like my exams went well.”

Student Will Hughes achieved great results, he said: “I am really pleased, especially after the challenges of Covid.

“It was hard because I feel like we did miss out on a lot and then I think I had to work really hard throughout Year 11, probably the hardest I have ever worked.”

The hard work all paid off and Will is joining many other students as he takes the next steps and will start his A-levels in September.
