A FUN day held in memory of a man who died 10 years ago has raised more than £6,000 for charity.

The Jason Goddard Memorial Charity Football Fun Day was organised by Hannah Browne and Stuart Bishop in memory of Jason.

The fun day, which took place on Sunday, August 28, was set up to honour Jason and to raise money for a mental health charities Mind and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS).

Just under 500 people attended the event, which raised £6,150 for the two charities Mind and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS).

Located at Andover New Street Football Club, there was a range of activities for all the family, including live music and a raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses.

However, the main attraction was a football match between two teams made up of members of the various football clubs that Jason for played with during his life.

The teams, named Greedy Goddard FC and Hold on a Minute FC, with the latter winning the game 3-2.

Hannah said: “We can’t thank the local businesses and people enough for their support in the run up to The Jason Goddard Memorial Charity Football Day and on the day. 

“We had just under 500 people attend the day and it was a huge success. 

“Thank you to Andover New Street FC for letting us use the full venue. 

“We were blown away by the crowd of people that were there and also all the amazing children’s entertainers/companies who donated their time to the day to keep the children happy.

“Massive thanks to Trident Electrical Services LTD for their sponsorship towards the day, if it wasn’t for them a lot of it wouldn’t have been possible.

“The evening also went brilliantly with live music from No Way Out who got everyone on the dance floor and were fab from beginning until the end.

“We also want to say a huge thank you Abbey Grover Wedding and Portrait Photography for taking some incredible pictures for us throughout the day.

“It was amazing to hear all the stories of people remembering Jason on the day and I just hope the money raised helps as many people as it possibly can.”
