ANDOVER held a service of commemoration to pay tribute to the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The service at St Mary’s Church was free to attend and saw people come together to give thanks for the life of the Queen.
Civic leaders, councillors, members of the Armed Forces, emergency services, charitable organisations and clergy, together with residents from Andover and beyond, gathered for a service of music, prayer and reflection.
Reverend Chris Bradish, vicar, said: “The Queen was sure in her faith and steadfast in her duty, bringing constancy through 70 years of change. We will remember Her late Majesty with affection and gratitude and silently give thanks in our hearts for her unswerving devotion to us and to our country.”
The Mayor of Andover, Cllr David Coole, delivered a prayer, while Test Valley Borough Councillor Carl Borg-Neal performed a reading, sharing fond memories of the Queen.
At 8pm the congregation took part in the one-minute silence before a round of applause filled the church to honour the Queen.
