THE Army Flying Museum invites everyone to come along to meet one of their most qualified test pilots as he talks through his career and carries out a Q&A.

In Middle Wallop, the Army Flying Museum is preparing for people to come meet one of their most widely experienced test pilots who currently works at the museum, Chris Taylor.

On Monday, October 10 the talk will draw on the experiences of Chris’s career, including some of the anecdotes from his book, to explain why test pilots are necessary, how they go about their jobs and how they make aircraft safer for us all to fly in.

The illustrated talk is very light-hearted and humorous, with only enough technical detail to ensure audiences are able to understand the stories being described.

Having wanted to be a pilot for as long as he could remember, Chris gained his private pilot’s licence at just 17 years of age. After serving as a Navigation Officer on numerous ships with the Royal Navy, he went onto operate Wasp and Lynx helicopters and after five years of instructing, became a test pilot flying all manner of aircraft.

The talk will be followed with a live Q&A where Chris will take questions on any aspect of his test flying career or his varied career in aviation. Chris will also be signing copies of his book Test Pilot following the talk.

Tickets to attend the event are £10, and can be watched online pay per view for £6.

The talk will also be recorded for catch-up viewing after the event through the museum's website.
