AN UNINSURED drug driver has been put behind bars after driving dangerously in Whitchurch.

David Payne, of Hardmead in Oxfordshire, drove dangerously on the A34 on June 9.

He also had not less than 3.1ug/L of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood - the legal limit is 50.

The 35-year-old, who also had no insurance or driving licence permitting him to drive the vehicle, pleaded guilty during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Payne was jailed for six months, with magistrates deeming the offence so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified.

Magistrates also disqualified him from getting behind the wheel for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £128 when released.

A WOMAN has been banned from getting behind the wheel after driving while over the alcohol limit.

Natalie Curtis, of Hamble Road in Oxfordshire, was driving a Nissan Qashqai when she was stopped by police on the A34 in Whitchurch on September 30.

The 39-year-old was found to have 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

Curtis, who pleaded guilty during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court, was disqualified from driving for 21 months.

Magistrates also ordered her to pay court costs of £85, a surcharge of £74 and a fine of £184.

A MAN from Andover has been handed points and fined hundreds after he was caught speeding in Hook.

John Kelly, of Swithin Way, pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Aldershot Magistrates' Court.

The 58-year-old was driving a Toyota on Reading Road in Eversley Cross while he was travelling at a speed that exceeded 30 miles per hour. He was caught driving at 35mph.

Magistrates ordered Kelly's driving licence to be endorsed with three penalty points and fined him £704. 

On top of this, he was also ordered to pay court costs of £110 and a surcharge of £70.

A WOMAN from Andover has been ordered to take part in rehabilitation activity after assaulting another woman.

In July 2021, Laura Syddall, of Stubbs Court, assaulted another woman in Bridge Street, Andover.

She pleaded not guilty to the offence on September 19 last year but a trial undertaken in her absence later found her to be guilty.

The 41-year-old was ordered to attend rehabilitation appointments for a maximum of 25 days. 

Magistrates also put in place a restraining order forbidding Syddall from contacting the victim.

She was also ordered to pay compensation costs of £600, court costs of £310 and a surcharge of £95.
