A PRE-SCHOOL has been able to buy the building they were renting – securing a permanent home – partly thanks to a major council grant.

Little Fingers Pre-school in Vernham Dean was renting Gospel Hall, until it was put up for sale, luckily the provider was given first refusal to buy the premises.

However, there was a risk that the pre-school might not be able to continue at the site due to funding.

As a registered charity, they were encouraged to apply for a Community Asset Fund Grant from Test Valley Borough Council and they were successful, being awarded £25,000.

The pre-school then received an email from the Conholt Park Estate saying they would like to donate the money needed for them to purchase the building.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Phil North, visited the pre-school, to celebrate their recent purchase.

Cllr North said: “I was delighted to visit Little Fingers Pre-school to celebrate their recent purchase of the former Gospel Hall.

"It’s so important for the sustainability and vibrancy of our rural communities that facilities like this are protected and supported - ensuring the villages of the Bourne Valley are a welcoming place for young families.

“The most heart-warming part of my visit was meeting a little girl from Ukraine, who is currently residing in one of the neighbouring villages. Having fled the war in April, she now speaks perfect English following her interactions with fellow pupils at the school.

“I must say a huge congratulations to the chairman of trustees Carolyn and pre-school manager Leanne for all they do supporting the families of Bourne Valley.”
