AN ANDOVER man has been fined for being in possession of drugs in the town earlier this year.

John Hooley, of no fixed abode, was found with a small quantity of diamorphine, crack cocaine and cannabis on October 12.

The 41-year-old admitted to the offences during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates fined Hooley £120, he must also pay £45 court costs and a £48 victim surcharge.

Forfeiture and destruction of the drugs was also granted during the hearing.

AN ANDOVER teenager has been given a suspended sentence after he was caught with a lock knife.

Thomas Gabriel, of Beales Close, was caught with the blade in Andover on July 7 and pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

The 19-year-old was given a three-month prison sentence which was suspended for 12 months. He must complete 160 hours unpaid work and up to 20 rehabilitation days.

He must also pay an £154 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

A DRIVER who was caught over the alcohol limit has been banned from getting behind the wheel.

Brian Maskelyne, whose address was given in court as a hotel on the A303, was driving a Mercedes Benz on Churchill Way, in Andover, on August 31.

He had 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.

During a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, the 39-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 42 months and he was fined £120. He must also pay £40 court costs and a £48 victim surcharge.  

MAGISTRATES have disqualified a drink driver who was caught with a knife while driving in Goodworth Clatford.

Roy Hazell was behind the wheel of a Citroen Berlingo van on Winchester Road on September 9 when he was stopped.

A breath test found he had 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.

The 44-year-old from Wigan was also caught with bladed knife.

Hazell pleaded guilty to both offences during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He was banned from driving for 36 months and fined £120. He must also pay £85 court costs and a £114 victim surcharge.

Magistrates also ordered up to complete up to 10 rehabilitation days.
