MEMBERS of Upper Clatford WI have planted a tree in the Queen’s honour thanks to the help of a charity.

The group made the decision to plant a beech tree to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Harmony Woods, despite her death in September, the WI decided to continue with its plan.

The WI’s group president Nicky Villalard sourced and collected a tree before it was planted at the woods, thanks to the go-ahead from Andover Trees United.

Recently, the charity spoke the WI in Upper Clatford, and members were so taken by its enthusiasm for the work they are doing that Harmony Woods was the obvious place to plant the tree.

A spokesperson said: “We feel sure it will grow tall and strong in line with the other lovely British trees in the woods.”
