A DRUG driver from Andover has been banned from getting behind the wheel.

Thomas Cuddy, of Galahad Close, drove a motor vehicle on Meliot Rise in Andover when he was found to have 4.6 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood on August 8. The legal limit for drugs in the blood is 50.

Cuddy pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

The 30-year-old was fined £120 and magistrates also banned him from getting behind the wheel for a total of 12 months.

On top of this, he was also ordered to pay court costs of £45 as well as a  surcharge fee of £48.

AN ANDOVER man has been sent to prison for more than five months after stalking a woman causing her serious alarm.

James Farquharson, of Porters Close, stalked a woman and caused her serious alarm or distress. The court deemed that the offence then subsequently had a substantial adverse effect on her usual day-to-day activities.

The court found that Farquharson contacted her by phone via text and calls, attended her home address, followed her in a public place and also shouted an insult at her.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court during a hearing.

Magistrates sent to him to prison for a total of 10 months for the offence.

A restraining order was also put in place. The order has been put in place stopping him from contacting the victim or going to her address.

No extra court costs were ordered to be paid because of the custodial sentence.

A WOMAN from Ludgershall has been disqualified from driving after being caught driving without due care and attention.

Donna Barnett, of Mcevoy Gardens, drove a Vauxhall Meriva Index on Weyhill Road near Andover without due care and attention on April 14.

The 56-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court.

Magistrates banned her from getting behind the wheel for a total time of six months.

On top of the ban, Barnett was also ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a surcharge fee of £34 by the magistrates.
