A TEST Valley museum is kicking off half term in style with the first in a series of Living History events.

Ham and Jam are a historical tribute group and will be representing the Glider Pilot Regiment and elements of 6 Airlanding Brigade and 6 Airborne when they visit the Army Flying Museum, in Middle Wallop, on Saturday, February 11.

It will give visitors the opportunity to experience an extra dimension to the museum and to meet the group, see their equipment and kit and find out more about British Airborne troops in the Second World War.

For half-term week, the museum invites visitors to take on Operation Code-cracker with its family activities focussing on secret agents, code-breaking and great escapes. There will also be a fun code-cracking trail throughout the museum to keep everyone busy and entertained alongside all the other interactive exhibits to be found inside the two large hangars that house the museum’s collection.

These events are just a tiny element of what the museum has planned for the year ahead, with monthly lectures, concerts, archive tours, and of course the flagship Wallop Wheels and Wings event all in the pipeline.

Chief executive of the Army Flying Museum Lucy Johnson said: “It was wonderful to chat with so many new visitors to the museum at the Brick Event last weekend and we can’t wait to see more new faces and returning visitors through our doors in the year ahead.  We are thrilled that visitor numbers are significantly increasing and that our event programme is encouraging more and more local people to visit and support the Museum rather than travelling further afield."
