A HAIR salon that had been serving Ludgershall residents for 25 years has permanently closed.

The Wakkie Hair Co at 20 High Street has been forced to close due to cost-of-living crisis.

Its owner Charli Bryant and her team have joined another popular Ludgershall hair salon – Hair by Laura at 13A High Street.

The tattoo studio at Wakkie, run by Charli’s wife Jo, will continue at 20 High Street.

Charli thanked all her clients, neighbours and staff for “all the love and support over the past years”.

“Money-wise it was difficult to keep the salon going,” the 44-year-old said.

“It’s because of everything going on like inflation. I thought joining another salon, which is quite popular, is a better option.

"I have a very good relationship with Laura. I am hoping that my years in the industry bring something valuable to Laura’s beautiful hairdressing family.”

After training at Liverpool’s flagship salon called Voodou and getting a level 3 qualification in 1998, Charli joined Wakkie as an assistant.

Charli said it was difficult to let go of the business which has been part of the majority of her life.

“First, I joined there and worked under somebody else for 10 years. Then I took the salon over. I have been at that salon since 19 and I’m 44 now.”

Whilst at the Wakkie, she represented the South West for the Nation’s Favourite Hairdresser Awards, and finished third in the country.

Her salon was also nominated twice in the NFHA awards in the last three years.
