AN ANDOVER man has been put behind bars after breaching a restraining order.

Between March 14 and March 22, Reece Prosser, of St Anns Close, telephoned and sent messages to a woman which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order.

During a hearing held at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on March 23, the 36-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence.

Magistrates sent him to prison for 12 weeks.

MAGISTRATES have sent an Andover man to prison for shoplifting and being in possession of a knife.

Jon Ball, of Weyhill Road, on March 22, this year, had a Stanley knife in his possession on Weyhill Road without good reason or lawful authority.

Two days before on March 20 he stole three bottles of vodka, to the value of £96, belonging to Tesco in Andover.

During a hearing held at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on March 23, the 42-year-old pleaded guilty to the offences.

Magistrates sent Ball to prison for 20 months for having the knife and six weeks for the shoplifting offence.

He was also ordered to pay £50 and the knife was ordered to be destroyed.

A DRINK driver has been handed a suspended prison sentence after being stopped by police in Andover.

Basil Broderick, of Takers Lane in Suffolk, on May 25, last year, drove a Vauxhall Omega on the A303, Wyehill Road with 101 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

During a hearing held at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on March 23, the 56-year-old was banned from getting behind the wheel for 36 months.

He was also given a six-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay court costs of £1,500 and a surcharge fee of £128.

A HAMPSHIRE man has been handed a prison sentence following a string of driving offences in Andover and Basingstoke.

Zack Mitchell-Blackmore, of Oak Road in Southampton, on August 22, last year, drove off without paying for petrol worth £92.90 belonging to MFG Munro’s Corner in Andover. The 26-year-old also drove a Mercedes on East Street in Andover with no insurance on the same date.

Between September 3 and September 26, he committed a string of driving offences in Basingstoke, including driving with no licence and failing to pay for petrol on several different occasions.

During a hearing held at Basingstoke Magistrates' court on March 24, he was sent to prison for 18 weeks and banned from getting behind the wheel for five years.

He was also ordered to pay compensation costs of more than £400.
