THE trust which runs hospitals in Andover, Basingstoke and Winchester, will explore its virtual health services at its next Health Focus event.

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT) will host a free online event on Tuesday, May 23, starting at 6.30pm, which will take attendees behind the screens, looking into what exactly virtual health means for patients, delving into virtual wards and how specialist staff can use technology to care for patients in the place they call home.

On the night, attendees will hear from HHFT’s Becky Housley, consultant nurse, about how hospital staff care for patients outside of hospital through virtual wards.

Hear about how HHFT and local ambulance services work together to get patients the care they need without going into hospital or reducing wait times. The Virtual Health Hub has so far accelerated 2,000 patient journeys and avoided 3,500 hospital admissions.

Becky will be joined by other expert speakers, including Sam Jackson, clinical service manager for telemedicine, trust chief executive Alex Whitfield and hospital leaders from the wider Hampshire region.

Alex Whitfield, chief executive at HHFT, said: “We look forward to welcoming you to our next Health Focus event.

“This is a great opportunity to shine a light on the fantastic work of our Virtual Health Hub, which enables us to safely care for our patients in the comfort of their home. It is also an opportunity to hear more about what is happening in our hospitals and to ask us any questions.

“The event is open to everyone, so please do come along.”

With the chance to ask the speakers questions in real time, people are encouraged come along to discover the benefits of virtual health, its influence on the future of healthcare and more.
