A NEW festival promoting a healthy mind and body will take place in Andover later this month.
Andover Wellbeing Festival will be a free family day out packed with goodness on Sunday, June 25, 10am to 2pm.
The festival is one of the new town centre events being organised by Test Valley Borough Council for 2023.
The event will give Andover residents an opportunity to discover new ideas and activities to promote a healthy mind and body, whilst showcasing local organisations and clubs that offer a wide range of physical and mental wellbeing services.
The festival’s activity arena, which has been organised in partnership with Places Leisure, will be located in the High Street and will offer a variety of free taster sessions and performances.
Participants can feel the rhythm at a Zumba class, get energised at a freestyle fitness session or let the sound of a community choir performance lift their mood.
A full programme of activities can be found on the Andover Vision Facebook page at https://fb.me/e/LocTLc7R.
Also taking place in the High Street will be the festival’s marketplace, where a host of local organisations such as Valley Leisure, More Education and Andover Mind will be on hand to discuss their services and provide helpful information.
Experts will be attending to offer free health checks, including a spine check and body fat test. Community band Test Valley Brass will let visitors have a go at playing some instruments and the Good Grub Club will be whizzing up smoothies by pedalling on their smoothie bike.
On the day the upper Guildhall will be transformed into a special chatty café, where refreshments will be available and a series of free talks will take place. Ranging from 15 to 20 minutes, these short sessions will cover topics from the benefits of yoga to how to live a more active, healthy lifestyle.
Andover St Mary’s ward councillor, Iris Andersen, who was involved with the creation of this event said: “Our overall wellbeing has really come into focus over the past few years and Andover’s new Wellbeing Festival will be a great opportunity for all ages to try new experiences and learn valuable information in a free and accessible environment.
“The event will also provide a great opportunity for local organisations to meet the community and promote their services.”
