THE community of Vernham Dean are coming together in July to enjoy the Bury Dene Bash.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 8, at Vernham Dean Playing Fields and will give people the opportunity to enjoy an array of stalls, music, antique tractors and animals, and much more.

The bash has been organised by the Vernham Dean Playing Fields Association, a committee of the parish council. Many other people in the community have been assisting with the organisation of the event and will be assisting with the setting up of the facilities on the day.

The event is in support of Little Fingers Preschool and Vernham Dean Gillum's Primary School.

On the day, the Mayor of Test Valley, Cllr Philip Lashbrook and mayoress Cllr Linda Lashbrook will open the village’s new playground.

The parish council has raised over £60,000 to fund the addition of some fun play equipment to add to its playing fields.

Grants were also given by Test Valley Borough Council.

A council spokesperson said: “The Vernham Dean Parish Council are very grateful for the support provided by Test Valley Borough Council, in both the provision of these grant funds and the helpful information provided by their staff to support this project. We are also grateful for the support and help provided by Cllr Phil North throughout the project.

“The play equipment was carefully selected to provide equipment for a wide range of youngsters, including the less able.”

The event will take place from 2pm till 11pm.
