AN Andover paedophile has pleaded guilty to 10 charges of breaching his sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) to speak to persons he had not provided police details of.

Callum Lee Bates, 24, from Andover, has been charged for making unauthorised contacts with persons via the messaging tool Discord.

Discord is an instant messaging and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) social platform.

On Discord, users have the ability to communicate with voice calls, video calls, text messaging, media and files in private chats or as part of communities called 'servers'.

Bates was first sentenced to a five-year SHPO in April 2018, and he was prohibited from unsupervised contact with any male child under the age of 16.

However, he breached this order in 2020 and was later sentenced to a three-year community order in February 2021.

The latest breaches happened over a period from October 25, 2022, and May 9, 2023.

Bates pleaded guilty to his latest charges at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, July 20.

He will be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on Friday, August 18.
