AN ANDOVER artist is to set sail taking her work around the world in an exhibition onboard a luxury cruise liner.

Alex McGary, 39, is to board P&O's Britannia ship in September, with a unique and exciting exhibition.

Alex owns the Alex McGary Studio And Art Gallery in Andover's Town Centre.

The gallery hosts a large collection of paintings and you can see Alex working on her latest painting in the window of the gallery. The studio and art gallery are open to the public five days a week and anyone is welcome to browse.

Alex already has paintings on board P&O cruises and Cunard cruises but this will be her first solo exhibition event on board. Whilst having an exhibition on a cruise ship will be a first for Alex, she is no stranger to painting and exhibiting.

During her time on board, Alex will also host interactive live painting demonstrations as well as VIP events and experiences.

She said: "I'm looking forward to joining Britannia on its journey in Copenhagen on 12th September.

"I've painted a brand new collection for this event and I can't wait to share it with everyone on board. I’m honoured to be given this opportunity."

Alex has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember and started exhibiting her work at just 16-years-old. For many years she painted as a hobby, slowly building it up into a business. Alex has been a full-time artist for the last 10 years.

Since then several of her paintings have been published in fine art limited edition prints. In 2019 she won Up and Coming Artist Of The Year award, presented by the prestigious Fine Art Trade Guild.

Alex is now represented by the UK's leading international publisher and distributor of original paintings, De Montfort Fine Art.

The cruise is set to embark on September 1 from Southampton with visits to Kiel, an overnight stop in Helsinki, and visits to Tallinn and Visby before Alex embarks overnight in Copenhagen before the return to Southampton.
