ANDOVER Army Headquarters organised a bake sale recently to raise funds and awareness for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

The event named Tasty Treats, which brought together military personnel and their families, resulted in a significant contribution of nearly £400 to SSAFA's cause.

Harriet Hood, chair of SSAFA Salisbury Plain, expressed her gratitude for the event's success, giving credit to the dedicated efforts of Karen, Cheryl, and Jennie, who worked tirelessly to ensure its smooth execution.

SSAFA Salisbury Plain committee plays a vital role in providing assistance to active-duty service members and their families during times of need.

Among their essential objectives is the mitigation of loneliness and isolation often experienced by military families due to frequent relocations.

A military spouse shared her own experience, shedding light on the challenges faced by those constantly on the move.

She said: "When you move every couple of years, it can be really difficult to make friends and have a social life. SSAFA puts on events and makes it easier for you to meet people. It’s a lifesaver."
