Hundreds of floral tributes and messages have been left for an 11-year-old boy who died following an incident near a skatepark in Tidworth.

Flowers, footballs, video game controllers, teddy bears and cards are among the items placed by his family and friends near the skatepark as a tribute to the boy.

The 11-year-old, named locally as Jakob, was treated by paramedics at the skatepark in St Andrews Road shortly after 8.15pm on Friday, August 18, but he sadly died.

A public post has been made by a member of his family on a social media local group, thanking the community for its support.

They said: “Just want to say a massive thank you to Tidworth and Ludgershall community. They have been amazing and shown my family how much Jakob is loved.

“Over 250 flowers were laid down for him. He will be missed so much by my family and things will never be the same without him. I love you so much Jakob, and will never stop thinking of you. Rest in peace buddy.”

As previously reported, Wiltshire police said that his family were being supported by specialist officers and their "thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time."

The death has been referred to the coroner.
