ANDOVER Triathlon Club's own Gina Graham showcased her prowess on the international stage, competing in the prestigious Noosa Olympic Distance Triathlon in Australia.

Gina, a seasoned veteran, added another feather to her cap as she navigated the challenging course alongside some of the world's top triathletes.

Noosa's Olympic Distance Triathlon is officially the largest of its kind globally, boasting a staggering 8,000 entrants and 13,000 participants in the overall five-day multisport event.

Gina shared her unique experience with the Andover Triathlon Club community on their Facebook page.

She said: "I entered a year ago and booked the flight to Australia. Then I started to think about the realities of bike/accommodation and actually getting to Noosa."

Despite facing challenges like bike unavailability and distant accommodations, Gina persevered and secured a rental bike just in time for the event.

Arriving in Noosa on Friday evening, Gina embarked on a whirlwind race preparation journey.

"Cycled into Noosa to register and rack bike to race the next day… not the best race prep. Very jet-lagged," she shared.

The race itself unfolded with a challenging swim, a scenic yet painful cycle route, and a demanding run.

Her grit and determination shone through as she navigated each leg of the race, earning a credible finish time of 3.08.19.

Describing the overall experience, Gina said: "It was an amazing experience. Slightly overwhelming with the huge crowds and being on my own but also great support, fab goody bag.

"Would I do it again, yes, and it will help that my sister is also moving to Noosa! And it’s truly beautiful."
