A MAN in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life following a fire at a house in Redenham. 

As previously reported, a house in the village was targeted in a suspected arson attack on Wednesday, December 13, resulting in severe damage to the empty home. 

Emergency services, including 10 fire engines from Hampshire and Isle of Wight and Dorset and Wiltshire fire services, responded to the scene in Redenham Dove, tackling the blaze in the two-storey building.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, and no rescues were necessary during the incident.

Police officers, who are treating the fire as a suspected arson incident, have now arrested a man in his 50s.

A police spokesperson: "We were called by firefighters at 8.18pm on Wednesday 13 December to a report of a fire. No injuries were reported.

"Officers have remained at the property to establish the circumstances of what took place.

"As part of those enquiries, a man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

"He remains in police custody while our enquiries continue."
