RESIDENTS and staff from a care home have donated more than £100 to a charity offering a safe and welcoming environment for adults in Ludgershall.

Those at Rothsay Grange Care Home, in Andover Road, were delighted to join the Friends of Ludgershall at their regular Thursday get together to present the charity with a cheque for £155 which was raised at the home's Christmas Fayre.

The home had welcomed Linda Poultney, chair of the group and some of the members of the Friends to the fayre, which was the first in a series of events that will be raising money for the Friends over the course of 2024.

Gemma Hicks, general manager at Rothsay Grange said: “When a member of our staff heard that we were looking for a local charity to support they suggested that we meet Linda and her team at Friends of Ludgershall  and we were immediately impressed by what the group volunteers do for local residents week in and week out and felt that we would love to support them.

"We have already welcomed some of the members to our home and look forward to having them back as we move through the year with our programme of events.  Any fundraising we undertake will be to support the fantastic service that they provide which encompasses both regular Thursdays where members can meet, enjoy some activities and a home cooked meal as well as  special outings and events.  Our home is part of the local community and residents and staff are looking forward to developing the links between our two organisations.”

Following the presentation of the cheque at Ludgershall Memorial Hall, which is the group's regular venue, the home organised entertainment for the afternoon.

Linda added: “What a lovely way to kick off the new year.  Not only are we getting to know new friends but it is wonderful to have the support from Rothsay Grange, its residents and staff to enable us to do more for those that use our service.  We too are looking forward to developing this relationship and who knows where it may take us!”
