However, with Storm Isha hitting the UK and with more significant rainfall anticipated in the coming days, concerns about potential flooding are on the rise.

Weather experts predict further precipitation tomorrow and another 10mm on Monday (January 22).

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist into the next week, maintaining the river at an elevated level and making it particularly sensitive to any additional rainfall in the coming weeks.

In response to the escalating threat, flood barriers have been strategically deployed to help minimise the risk of flooding in St Mary Bourne.

Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters.

The flood alert status will be reassessed and updated by 12pm on Monday, January 22.
