FOUR well-loved ladies have all celebrated their 100th birthday at a care home in Andover.

Doris Robinson, Inez Ross, Winnifred Tull and Kathleen Bird have all celebrated reaching the milestone age at The Andover Nursing Home on Weyhill Road.

On Monday, January 29 an Advertiser reporter visited the home where the four residents were celebrating with some tea and cake.

Doris Robinson, who celebrated her birthday on January 29 enjoyed a party with her family the day before.

Doris, who was married to husband Reg for around 35 years, was described by her daughter Tania Marshall as a "lovely popular person" who adores her grandchildren. 

Inez Ross, who has five children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren will be turning 101 on Friday, February 16.

She told the Advertiser that she worked as a dinner lady for 25 years at Amport Church of England Primary School among various other jobs.

She said the secret to reaching the milestone age is eating lots of vegetables and having a good drop of sherry everyday.

Daughter Dawn Tinsley said: "She has always been into nature and gardening. She loves feeding the birds and squirrels and it is lovely because she also gets to do that here. I would describe her as a very country lady."

The centenarian got married to her husband Walter at a church in Amport and the pair were married for 68 years. 

Meanwhile, Winnifred Tull was born on June 17, 1923 and enjoyed her 100th birthday last year. Staff at the care home said she enjoys a Guinness at lunchtime.

Kathleen Bird celebrated her 100 birthday recently on Wednesday, January 24 and also enjoyed joining in with celebrations.
