AN ANDOVER man has avoided prison after he breached a restraining order by going to an address he was banned from.

Sean Ember, of Vestry Close, on Wednesday, January 24 and Thursday, January 25, went to the address – breaching a restraining order.

These offences were committed whilst Ember was on bail for four offences that took place in December.

On Thursday, December 21, he damaged a door belonging to Two Saints, in Dene Court, Andover. Ember also used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause that the person would believe that immediate violence would be used again them.

On the same day he assaulted a man in the town.

The following day, on Friday, December 22, he wilfully obstructed police officer Annette McCarthy in the execution of her duty in High Street.

The 35-year-old previously pleaded guilty to six charges during hearings at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He appeared at the same court on Monday, March 4, where he was sentenced.

Magistrates handed Ember a 20-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months after his ‘failure to comply with requirements of post custodial sentence supervision’.

It was also ordered that Ember must be tagged for eight weeks, ordering him to remain at his home between 9pm and 7am daily.

A further charged of using violence to secure entry to premises was dismissed after the prosecution offered no evidence.
