AN ANDOVER man has completed a gruelling 84-mile run in 24 hours to raise money for a young girl with an ultra-rare metabolic disease.

Anthony Brown, known as Ant, took on the challenge along the Jurassic Coast path in Dorset during Storm Kathleen, raising more than £1,800 for nine-year-old Sabrina.

The challenge, organised by Brutal Events, required participants to navigate the coastline at night and contend with difficult terrain and stormy weather.

The funds raised by Ant will go towards Sabrina’s ongoing therapy, home adaptations, and specialist equipment.

Sabrina suffers from ALG1-CDG, a condition so rare that fewer than 60 cases have been documented. The condition causes developmental delay, seizures, and microcephaly.

“Sabrina and her family are special friends to me,” said Ant.

“She is a beautiful nine-year-old girl who happens to have an ultra-rare inherited metabolic disease called ALG1-CDG along with numerous other medical conditions. To help raise funds for them would be an amazing privilege.

“Donations will go towards therapy, specialist equipment and home modifications, providing Sabrina with the best possible environment, so that she can live her life to the fullest.”

Ant surpassed his initial fundraising target of £1,000, but donations can still be made via justgiving.com/page/anthony-brown-1709152905854.
