ANDOVER Town Council has awarded a £2,000 grant to Andover Carnival organisers who are gearing up for a momentous event as they celebrate its 100th anniversary this July.
This grant will contribute to the anticipated £16,000 expenditure for the event, scheduled for Sunday, July 21.
The organisers are aiming to make it the biggest procession in recent years, featuring more than 20 lorries and numerous walking groups.
Local businesses have generously donated time, trucks, and their participation, showcasing community spirit.

The carnival is expected to draw more than 10,000 attendees who will enjoy the parade, High Street activities, a big stage, and a fair event at Vigo Park.
"Our plan is simply to deliver an event that Andover can join and celebrate everything the word community stands for," the organisers stated in their grant application.
Andover Town Council, which considered the application on Wednesday, May 1, unanimously decided to offer £2,000 to help cover the expenditure.
The organisers are also seeking additional grants from the National Lottery and Test Valley Borough Council to ensure a successful centennial celebration.
