A community woodland is inviting residents to help replace trees that failed to take root last year.

Andover Trees United is hosting a Community Conservation Day on Saturday, January 11, at Harmony Woods in Enham Alamein, Andover.

The day, from 10am to 2pm, will focus on "beating up," a term used to describe the process of replacing young trees that did not thrive.

Organisers are encouraging anyone with an interest in tree planting, whether novices or experienced planters, to participate.

The event is part of an ongoing effort by the woodland's management group to engage young people in tree planting and other environmental care activities.

All participants are promised refreshments and are asked to email abbey.sandler@andovertrees.org.uk ahead of time to help with planning.

A spokesperson for the group said: "Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned tree-planter, it’s a great chance to learn new skills and help care for our growing woodland."

The event will help towards the upkeep of Harmony Woods, which serves as a centre for conservation, education and community involvement.

The woodland is gradually expanding and has become a vital resource for promoting community action and environmental stewardship.
