Thruxton racetrack is gearing up for its first racing event of the year.

The ‘Tops Down Weekender’ will take place from Friday, May 3, to Saturday, May 4, and will feature a variety of convertible cars.

The event marks the return of the Caterham championships, which have not been held at the circuit since April 10, 2021.

The weekend promises a range of open-top racing events, including the Caterham Academy, Road Sport, 270R, and 310R races.

Other competitions include the Junior Saloon Car Championship, OT Coupe Cup with Toyo Tires, Track Action, and the 750 MC 116 Trophy and 116 Sprint.

Thruxton is encouraging attendees to drive their convertible cars to the event.

Those who do so will receive free VIP parking and the chance to participate in a parade lap.

The Thruxton Centre will be open throughout the weekend, offering food and drink options to ensure visitors do not miss any of the on-track action.

The event is designed to be a family-friendly weekend, with entertainment available both on and off the track.

Free camping is also available for those who wish to extend their stay.

The Tops Down Weekender is just the beginning of the racing season at Thruxton, with several other events planned for the summer.

The British Touring Car Championships are scheduled for June 7 and 8, followed by Thruxton Retro on June 21 and 22.

The British Truck Racing Championships will take place on July 5 and 6, while the British Superbike Championships are set for August 8, 9, and 10.

The Classic Sports Car Club event will wrap up the summer on September 20-21.

With a packed summer schedule, Thruxton is set to provide a variety of racing entertainment for fans of all ages.

The return of the Caterham championships and the focus on convertible cars for the Tops Down Weekender signal an exciting start to the racing calendar.
