A spokesperson said: "It is really important to get this right to get the most out of your medication."
Patients can check their technique by visiting the Asthma and Lung UK website and watching instructional videos.
The surgery also sent asthma patients text messages with links to helpful resources.
To accommodate patients who may need further assistance, extra asthma review appointments will be available throughout May and June, ensuring timely advice for those not well-controlled.
St Mary's is also advising asthma patients who have not had a review in the last 12 months, or who are experiencing symptoms, to book a review promptly.
The surgery highlighted that the UK has one of the highest asthma death rates in Europe, increasing by more than 20 per cent in the past five years.
Asthma affects 5.4 million people in the UK, making it the most common long-term condition among children and young people.
Approximately two to three children in every classroom are affected.
The surgery shared studies revealing that asthma symptoms cause the loss of 28 million school days each year.
St Mary's is urging the public to support World Asthma Day by ensuring they have had a review in the past 12 months.
