Award-winning artist Justin Wiggan will be launching interactive workshops and performance in Andover to bring 'hidden voices of the Earth'.

Justin, a renowned sound artist, will be using biosonification - which transforms natural processes into sounds - to share the voices of soil, plants, sea, and fire with audiences.

The programme is partially funded by Chapel Arts Studios (CAS) and forms part of Andover Trees United's Disappearing Wildflowers Project.

An Andover Trees United spokesperson said: "Through the innovative practice of biosonification—the transformation of natural processes into sound—Justin invites participants to discover what soil, plants, sea, and even fire have to say.

"From hands-on activities to immersive performance, these events blend science, creativity, and reflection for all ages."

The first event, Sounds of the Soil Workshop, will be held on Wednesday, August 27, at Harmony Woods, Andover.

Families, students, and others can listen to the sounds produced by different types of soil using biosonification devices.

They will also get the opportunity to participate in live listening sessions and create "soil graffiti" and soil-based sculpture.

The second event will be a unique immersive performance at Andover Museum on the same day.

Justin, often referred to as a "sonic detective," will share his journey woven around sound, science, and storytelling.

Audience members will experience live demonstrations of biosonification as well as an immersive live sonic performance.

On Thursday, August 28, the third event, another edition of the Sounds of the Soil Workshop, will take place in Andover Town Centre.

This event offers a hands-on workshop that invites participants to listen, experiment, and create with soil in an accessible and family-friendly format.

The workshop looks to offer sound testing and interactive talks about ecosystems and environmental changes, with activities planned for both children and adults.

Tickets for the events can be booked via eventbrite.co.uk/o/andover-trees-united-32302861191 or by emailing wendy.davis@andovertrees.org.uk.

Justin, a celebrated artist and educator, works at the crossroads of science, sound, and sensory experiences.

His internationally recognised projects aim to uncover and reveal the hidden voices of the natural world.
