AN inquest has opened into the death of an Andover man who died while holidaying in Spain.

Ben Clark, 41, of Shepherds Row, died while on holiday in Majorca on Friday, June 27, a court heard.

The inquest into Mr Clark’s death was opened at Winchester Coroners’ Court on Wednesday, October 22, by assistant coroner Emma Morris.

Ms Morris said: “He is understood to have fallen from a rocky pathway to a beach in Spain.”

The coroner gave the preliminary cause of death as unascertained.

As previously reported, Carly Clark, Mr Clark’s sister, started a GoFundMe page to help her brother’s daughters following his death.

On the page, Carly said: "As many of you know, we are utterly heartbroken. We lost our beloved Ben on Friday.

"We would like to give his beautiful daughters every bit of help we can. Many of you have contacted me and asked to contribute towards all costs, but we would rather his girls have the very best they can at this heartbreaking time.

"I know this is what my brother would have wanted."

As reported in the Daily Mail, a spokesman for the Civil Guard in Majorca said: "We received an emergency alert just before 2am this morning (Friday, June 27), saying a man had fallen from a height of around 15ft in a rocky area in Cala Agulla near to Capdepera and had possibly died.

"The Civil Guard's specialist Greim mountain and cave rescue unit was mobilised. The man's body was recovered just after 5am.

"A full report has yet to be drafted by the Greim unit, and an autopsy will take place. But everything at this stage is pointing to the victim dying as a result of an accidental fall."

The inquest into Mr Clark’s death has been adjourned to August 18, 2026.
