Waitrose Andover has reopened its doors after a multi-million pound refurbishment.

The 14,000sqft branch on Chantry Street has undergone a major transformation, bringing a variety of new features and improvements.

The store, which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary, welcomed customers from 8am on October 24 with a range of new features including fresh produce, high-quality meat, fish, cheese, and desserts, plus beer, wine, and spirits.

Branch manager, Sam Vermeulen, who leads a team of 105 Partners at the shop, said: "Waitrose has been part of the Andover community for more than 55 years and we are lucky to have so many loyal shoppers.

"We’ve listened to their feedback and can now unveil our refreshed store.

"We look forward to celebrating with our customers today and offering the very best food and drink plus great service for many more years to come."

The investment has resulted in several key improvements including a sushi counter offering a range of dishes made daily by skilled sushi artisans, a dedicated John Lewis Click and Collect desk for quicker collections and returns, and new, energy-efficient refrigeration.

The store has also been fitted with improved lighting to create a brighter, more navigable shopping environment.

Local customers can now pick up orders in-store from John Lewis, Waitrose Entertaining, and Waitrose Cellar, and order home delivery from the shop using Deliveroo, Just Eat, and UberEats.

To celebrate the store's reopening, the first shoppers through the door were greeted with the gift of a free tote bag for their groceries.

Customers can also enjoy welcome drinks between 8am and 10.30am, and free tastings of Waitrose No.1 Italian Mixed Antipasti, Waitrose No.1 Cornish Quartz Cheddar Shortbread, Waitrose No.1 Treacle Torte, Waitrose Croissants, and Waitrose Apricot Preserve.

They can also try their luck on the 'spin and win wheel' from 8am to 7pm with prizes including a £5 gift card, a Waitrose Premium Foldaway Bag, Waitrose Clotted Cream Fudge, and Waitrose No.1 Fairtrade Blonde Chocolate with Feuilletine & Sea Salt.

Waitrose Andover is also part of the Waitrose Community Matters programme, which has donated over £50m to good causes across the country since it was introduced in 2008.

Each quarter, local customers are invited to vote for their favourite project, with the most popular receiving £1,500, and the second and third receiving £1,000 and £500 respectively.

Currently, customers at Waitrose Andover can vote for Knights Enham School, Andover Neighbourcare, and Andover Parkinson’s Cafe.
