As previously reported, Officers from the Rural Crime Taskforce were out on patrol in the area at the time of the chase on Thursday, January 8, following an increase in thefts and burglaries.

They became aware of a silver Honda CRV driving towards the town centre.

Sergeant Cork and PC Bustin followed the car and signalled for it to stop with their blue lights on.

The driver initially hesitated before stopping on Halter Way.

But instead of cooperating, the driver attempted to flee the scene, discarding small packets of white powder as they ran.

PC Bustin managed to chase down and arrest the suspect, with Sergeant Cork providing support.

The driver was arrested.

The vehicle has been seized and impounded.
