A fresh face is bringing new energy to a key creative post in Andover.

Chapel Arts Studios has named Fiona Cassidy as its new curator and programme manager.

Based in Andover’s Dissenters Chapel in St Mary's Cemetery, the organisation said Ms Cassidy’s appointment marks the next stage in its journey.

Russ Tunney, director of Chapel Arts, said: "We are delighted that Fiona is bringing her dynamism and care to the wonderful artistic community of Andover.

"She will play a key role in helping us to both bring outstanding work to the region and also to lead the work that we do with our associate artists, as well as helping us to develop a wider community programme ensuring that our work has social impact on people living in our area.

"We are committed to finding new ways of connecting people through creativity and Fiona has many years of doing exactly that in a wide number of places.

"This is an exciting time for Chapel Arts and we intend to find new ways to inspire people with creativity and to create opportunities and community through art."

Ms Cassidy is a graduate of Bath Spa University, where she studied fine art sculpture.

Since 2010, she has worked on more than 70 exhibitions across the South West, including at Salisbury Arts Centre, Black Swan Gallery, Pound Arts and Trowbridge Arts.

In 2020, she co-founded Found Outdoors, a woodland venue working with artists and other practitioners to help reconnect people with nature.

Upcoming art exhibitions at Chapel Arts Studios include the solo show Transformative Bride by Hampshire artist Sarah Jeffries, also known as Phoenix, which runs from March 7 to 21 and explores the icon of the bride.

Later in the spring, from May 9 to 31, Convergence: Heart Land will showcase new work by the twenty3 art collective.

The group has come together to "uncover stories and routes of Andover, its people and history".
