A ROUND-UP of the latest Andover-related cases heard at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court, including a drug driver spared jail and banned from the roads, and a soldier stationed near the town fined after being caught more than double the drink-drive limit.

Mohammad Beelontally, 35, of Mortlake Road, Ilford, was given a suspended prison sentence and banned from the roads after pleading guilty to drug-driving and driving while disqualified in Andover.

Magistrates handed him an eight-week custodial sentence, suspended for 24 months, with 150 hours of unpaid work and up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity.

He was found with cocaine and its breakdown product, benzoylecgonine, in his blood above the specified limits when he drove on Spey Court, Andover, on September 7, 2025.

He also admitted driving a Ford Ranger pickup on Vigo Road, Andover, while already disqualified and without insurance on July 21, 2025

Beelontally was disqualified from driving for 36 months. His guilty pleas were taken into account.

Jamie Copson, 23, of Mooltan Barracks, Tidworth Garrison, was fined £507 and disqualified from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving on Weyhill Road, Andover on February 28.

A reading of 79 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath was recorded — more than double the legal limit of 35.

The ban is reducible to 15 months on completion of a drink-drive rehabilitation course by May 13, 2027.

Copson was ordered to pay a £203 surcharge and £85 costs. His guilty plea was taken into account.
