A SERIAL shoplifter who stole from a Tesco store in Andover while already banned from the premises by a court order has been handed a suspended prison sentence and made subject to a new five-year criminal behaviour order.

Dean Hutchinson, 36, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty on April 23 to stealing meat products and laundry products worth £93.55 from Tesco in Andover on March 23, 2026.

He also pleaded guilty to breaching a criminal behaviour order imposed by Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on February 19, 2025, which had prohibited him from entering any Tesco store in Andover.

Magistrates imposed a four-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, on both counts, to run concurrently.

A new five-year criminal behaviour order, running from April 23, 2026, was imposed prohibiting Hutchinson from entering any Southern Co-operative store, Tesco, TK Maxx, Co-op, Sainsbury's or Boots in Andover, and from entering any retail premises from which he has been banned in writing. His guilty pleas were taken into account.
