On April 15th, I arranged a self-defence taster session in the Church hall in the town for women and younger females who wanted to come, with Charlotte Male, the director and founder of Ignite your Power.

My goodness me, the things that were taught that evening were an experience.

The women who came shared their experience.

I had someone write to me to say they cannot emphasise enough how valuable and empowering the experience was, the person felt an insignificant loss of confidence and highlighted sense of vulnerability when going out on her own.

Rebuilding her confidence and regaining a sense of personal safety.

I must thank this person very much for coming to this event and sharing with us all how she felt after her experience.

I feel we owe her something that made us all think that the safety of women is very important.

I feel we should run more sessions like this in the local Church hall as we need this locally and it is important that women can defend themselves even if it’s just basic, it is so important these kinds of skills are.

Our street lights go off at midnight until 5am in the morning.

I do not know if it is me, but I felt a reduction on the lights in our town area.

They are very dim, not as bright as they used to be.

Our safety is important for everybody, the police, ambulance and fire service.

Also, our late-night workers, I think 2am is plenty early enough for them to be shut of or Hampshire County Council have to do something different for our safety.

Something good happened in Vigo Recreation Ground this weekend.

The park yoga sessions are back on Sunday mornings from 9.30am till 10.30am for a relaxing outdoor yoga session, so please don’t forget to come and join us on Sunday morning.
