An Andover bar has temporarily closed for an "exciting" upcoming announcement.
Powder Monkey at Andover’s historic Guildhall has temporarily closed its doors after owners posted a mysterious handwritten note promising "something exciting" is on the way.
The craft beer bar, which operates from the ground floor of the Grade II* listed Guildhall in the High Street, has fallen silent in recent days, with the lights off and chairs sitting unused inside.
The venue, trading from the lower level of the 1825 building beneath the council chamber, had been seen as a key part of efforts to bring more evening footfall into the town centre.

Now a note taped to the glass is the only sign of activity. It reads: "Powder Monkey is working on something exciting.
"We regret to inform you, our doors will be closed while we work on it.
"Keep your eyes peeled. Be back soon!"
The message confirms the closure is temporary but offers no hint as to what changes are planned or when the bar will reopen.
Run by Hampshire-based Powder Monkey Brewing Group, the Guildhall venue has been known for its own craft beers, bottled ales from sister brewery Goddards, independent gins and whiskies, and a food menu that helped build a loyal following.
Its bistro-style interior, strong wine list and dog-friendly welcome set it apart from more traditional town pubs.
