She adorned Ken’s room with balloons and personalised posters featuring pictures from their wedding day and honeymoon.
Ken, a resident at Wessex Lodge, went the extra mile for Brenda, presenting her with a her favourite flower - a bouquet of roses and a handmade card that he crafted himself with Gemma’s assistance.
The day ended on a sweet note with a cake made by the home's chef, Domingo.
The staff presented the cake to Ken and Branda whilst singing happy anniversary to the tune of Happy Birthday.
Ken was at the local swimming pool with his friends in Andover, where he first saw Brenda, then 18.
He had just returned from being stationed in Malaysia with the Scots Guards.
Ken, 21 at the time, invited Brenda to the cinema one evening, beginning their journey together.
The couple married on June 6, 1953, when Ken was 23, and Brenda was 20, the same day as Ken’s parents’ anniversary.
The couple later welcomed a son, Mark, six years after their wedding, followed by the birth of their daughter, Tracy, four years later.
